Mars Komagatake IPA Cask Finish (70cl)

Mars Komagatake IPA Cask Finish is a Japanese single malt from the Mars Shinshu distillery, high in the Japanese Alps in Nagano Prefecture at around 800 metres above sea level. The whisky spends three years in traditional oak barrels, then matures further in casks that were used to brew India Pale Ale at the brewery next door. This adds a subtle note of beer character. The nose offers citrus fruit and fresh herbs, with vanilla from the IPA casks. On the palate come grapefruit and orange, then sweet malt, and the finish is clean and crisp, like the bitterness of a beer.
