This is a single cask Mars Komagatake from Shinshu Mars, aged 24 years and bottled at 59% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The spirit was distilled in 1991, matured in sherry cask 157 and bottled by Whisky Talk Fukuoka in 2015. The release is limited to 375 bottles.
The distillery stopped production in 1992 and resumed in 2011.
The nose offers dried fruit, dark chocolate and spice, with subtle oak and a touch of nuttiness. On the palate there are dried figs, sherry sweetness and spice over a creamy texture, with toffee, leather and dark berries. The finish is long and warming, with lingering sweetness, gentle spice and echoes of dried fruit and oak.
