The tenth release in Hombo Shuzo's Lucky Cat series of blended whiskies, bottled at 43% ABV as a limited edition. It is named for May and Hana, two cats in the household of the distillery's founder, aged 20 and 8, who stand for calmness and playfulness.
The blend was matured in Pedro Ximenez sherry and Port casks, and its sweetness is meant to bring the two affectionate cats to mind.
The nose brings raw caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla ice cream, raspberry and tangerine. The palate has dried mandarin, wine grapes, tannic bitterness and fruit gum. The finish carries oak sweetness and a distinctive bitterness over mild grain sweetness.
