Mars – Maltage Cosmo Blended Malt Whisky Manzanilla Finish 2022 (70cl, 42%)

This is Mars Maltage Cosmo, a blended malt that combines Japanese and British malt whiskies. This limited edition was bottled in 2022 in a 70cl bottle at 42% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colouring. After marrying, the blend was finished in former Manzanilla casks, a light, dry style of sherry. Ex-bourbon barrels and new oak casks also feature among the casks used. The name Cosmo refers to Mount Kosumo in the Japanese Central Alps. The nose combines warm cocoa, strawberry marshmallow and damp cedar. The palate shows mild oak, resinous herbs and lemon peel. The finish brings dark chocolate, black tea tannins and angelica root, with a trace of coconut and sea salt.
