Mars Maltage Cosmo is a Japanese blended malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 43%. It is named after a peak near the distillery.
It is blended at the Mars Shinshu Distillery in Nagano, which stands at 798 metres above sea level. House-made malts are combined with imported Scottish malt, and the whisky is aged in American oak, ex-sherry and wine casks.
The nose has ripe cherry, spiced honey and roasted nuts with a little gentle smoke. On the palate it is full and rounded, with caramel, dried fig, cinnamon and malted chocolate. The finish is long and warming, with dark fruit, cedar and a hint of toffee.
