Martell VS is a cognac from Maison Martell, founded in 1715. It is bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle.
The spirit is double-distilled in copper pot stills from Ugni Blanc. The house distils only clear wines, with the lees removed first, which keeps the fruit character of the grapes. The VS designation means the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend has spent at least two years in oak.
The nose offers plum, apricot, citrus zest and light oak. The palate is smooth, with vanilla, caramel, pear, mocha and a hint of dark chocolate. The finish is crisp and fairly short, with a little spice and oak warmth.
