Kujira Ryukyu is a Japanese whisky from Masahiro, distilled from 100% Indica rice and mashed with black koji, a type of koji found only in Okinawa. This 15 year old, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV, was matured in virgin white oak casks.
The nose offers dried plums and candied fruits, with mint and chocolate. On the palate it is sweet, with chocolate, vanilla and honey, followed by spice, a slight smokiness and toasty bread.
