Michter's Barrel Strength Straight Rye Whiskey 2022 Release (70cl, 55%)

Michter's Barrel Strength Straight Rye is a Kentucky rye whiskey from the 2022 release, made in small batches and bottled at barrel strength, 55% ABV, without chill filtration. The spirit goes into the barrel at 103 proof (51.5%), lower than the 125 proof used at most distilleries. This is said to allow better wood sugar integration and slower maturation. The nose has toffee, dark cherries and baking spice. On the palate, sweet cherry and caramel come with oak and pepper, and the mouthfeel is creamy. The finish is warm and dry.
