Shenk's Homestead Sour Mash 2024 Release is an American sour mash whiskey from Michter's, bottled at 45.6%. It is named after the Shenk's Homestead, established by John and Michael Shenk in Pennsylvania in the late 1700s.
It is made by the sour mash method, in which part of the previous batch is reused, and it is aged in American oak barrels. It is a limited release.
The nose is rich caramel and vanilla with spice and a little smoke from the oak. The palate balances honey and maple syrup sweetness with spicy warmth and fruit. The finish is long and warm, with lasting spice and a light dryness from the oak.
