Michter's – Toasted Barrel Finish Sour Mash Whiskey (70cl, 43%)

Michter's Toasted Barrel Finish Sour Mash Whiskey is a Kentucky whiskey built on the distillery's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey. It is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof) in a 70cl bottle. The whiskey is matured twice. It spends its first period in new, heavily charred American white oak barrels, then moves to a second barrel made from wood that was air-dried for 18 months and toasted gently, without charring. The nose opens with toffee and buttery vanilla, with hints of honey, milk chocolate and orange peel. A toasted, campfire character comes forward on the palate, alongside cherry and spice. The finish is long and rounded, setting toasted wood against the whiskey's natural sweetness.
