Michter's – US*1 Barrel Strength Rye 2022 Release (70cl, 55.2%)

This is a single barrel American rye whiskey from Michter's, bottled at barrel strength at 55.2% in a 70cl bottle. Each barrel is bottled at whatever strength it has reached, so the figure varies from one bottle to the next. The rye distillate goes into the barrel at 103 proof, lower than the usual industry practice. That costs more in barrels and warehousing, but Michter's believes it gives a richer, smoother and fuller-bodied whiskey once matured. The first release of this expression appeared in May 2015, and this bottle is from the 2022 release.
