Michter's US*1 Small Batch Bourbon is a Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 45.7% ABV (91.4 proof). It is made with American corn and aged in barrels that have been both toasted and charred.
The barrels are seasoned for 18 months, and the spirit enters them at 103 proof, lower than is usual, to encourage flavour extraction during ageing.
The colour is deep amber. The nose has caramel, vanilla and dried fruit with subtle oak. The palate mixes sweetness and spice, with butterscotch, toffee, dark chocolate, cinnamon and pepper. The finish is smooth and lingering, with oak and a gentle warmth.
