Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey is an American whiskey bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. Its grain selection means it cannot be classed as either a rye or a bourbon. The US1 name honours the heritage of a brand that dates its founding to 1753. Original Sour Mash was the distillery's most popular product in the 1970s and 1980s, left the market in 1989 and returned in 2012 as part of the US1 line. It is described as having warm toasted burnt sugar with spice, sweet smoky fruit, candied cherries and honeyed vanilla. It starts like a bourbon and finishes like a rye.
