Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey is an American whiskey from Michter's Distillery in Kentucky, bottled at 43% (86 proof) in a 75cl bottle. Its grain selection means it is classed as neither a rye nor a bourbon.
It follows the Original Sour Mash Whiskey, the distillery's most popular product in the 1970s and 1980s, which left the market in 1989 and returned in 2012 as part of the US*1 line. Sour mash refers to using some previously fermented mash to start the next fermentation.
