Montes Limited Apalta Vineyard Cabernet-Carmenere Colchagua Valley (75cl)

This is a Chilean red wine blending Cabernet and Carmenere from the Apalta Vineyard in the Colchagua Valley. Montes bought the land at Apalta in 1990 and began planting on its hillsides. The nose is highly perfumed, with ripe red and black fruit such as cherries in syrup, strawberries and figs, over red and black pepper, fresh tobacco and crème de cassis. Coffee and dark chocolate appear after a few minutes in the glass. The palate is generous, with rounded tannins that give structure and a sense of sweetness mid-palate. It is elegant and juicy, with very good persistence.
