This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt in Murray McDavid's Mystery Malt series, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2021 at 50% ABV. It was made by a well-known Speyside distillery that cannot be named.
The whisky matured in a first fill Oloroso sherry puncheon.
The nose has strawberry liqueur, cherries and fine dessert wine, with hints of oak, cinnamon and fragrant roses. The palate is rich, round and sweetly spiced, with dried red fruit, plum, mulled wine spices and almonds. The finish is elegant and rich, with cherry bitters, amaretto and tiramisu.
