Murray McDavid The Vatting Peatside 2014 6 Year Old (50%)

Murray McDavid The Vatting Peatside is a 6 year old blended malt, bottled in 2021 at 50% ABV. It is a small batch vatting of malts from two distilleries, both matured in ex-bourbon casks: a peated whisky from a western island and a little-known distillery near Glenlivet. Part of the blend was then finished in first fill PX casks and part in active ex-bourbon casks before the malts were married. It is described as rich in medicinal peat smoke, fresh spicy fruit and hazelnut. The nose offers sea peat, pineapple and creamy vanilla. The palate is sweet smoke with an oily texture and fresh citrus, and the finish is of medium length, with smoke and spice.
