Nagahama Single Malt "The Third Batch" is a Japanese single malt from Nagahama Distillery, which began operating in 2016 to mark the 20th anniversary of Nagahama Roman Beer. It is a brilliant amber colour.
The core is malt aged in bourbon barrels and Islay quarter barrels, both with a robust smokiness, joined by malt aged in Mizunara barrels and KOVAL whiskey barrels.
The nose has fresh top notes, malt and smoke, with milk chocolate, chocolate cookies, raisins, apricot candy and persimmon. The palate has malt sweetness, a velvety texture, soft caramel and maple syrup, and a strong peat smoke that lingers.
