Nantou – 6 Year Old 2017 SMWS Single 2nd Fill Charred Barrel 138.26 Top Banana (70cl, 56.9%)

This is a 6 year old Taiwanese single malt from Nantou, distilled in 2017 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as 138.26, named Top Banana. It is bottled at 56.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was matured in a single second-fill charred barrel, which gave 192 bottles. Nantou Distillery was founded in 1978 by the Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation and produced its first whisky in 2008. The tasting notes describe dried cherries, nuts and berries with bergamot, rose petals and pipe tobacco. Water brings out ripe banana alongside mango, lychee and eucalyptus.
