Nikka Coffey Grain is a Japanese grain whisky, made mainly at the Miyagikyo Distillery in Sendai and bottled at 45% ABV in a 700ml bottle.
It is distilled mostly from corn in Coffey stills that were brought over from Scotland in the 1960s. The whisky has a bright golden colour and a medium body with a smooth, creamy texture.
The nose is fresh, with vanilla, coconut, mango and papaya over a hint of citrus. The palate is juicy and sweet, with caramel, toffee and popcorn against light cinnamon and clove. The finish is long, with pear, oak and a touch of marmalade.
