Nikka Single Malt Miyagikyo is a Japanese single malt from the Miyagikyo Distillery in Miyagi Prefecture, in a 75cl bottle at 45% ABV. It carries no age statement and has been a permanent release since 2016.
The malt is mostly unpeated, with a small portion of lightly peated barley, distilled in steam-heated pot stills. Maturation is mainly in sherry casks, with some bourbon and new American oak.
The nose is estery, with orchard fruit, pear, green apple, honey, malt and sherried nuttiness. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, with honeyed barley, baked citrus peel, almond, vanilla and gentle spice. The finish is long and delicate.
