Nikka Coffey Malt

Nikka Coffey Malt is a Japanese whisky made from 100% malted barley. It is distilled in a Coffey still rather than a pot still, so it cannot be classed as a malt whisky. Both of Nikka's Coffey stills were moved to the Miyagikyo Distillery in 1999. Nikka was founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934, originally under the name Dai Nippon Kaju, and its Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries followed the traditional methods he learnt in Scotland. The Coffey still method gives this whisky its distinctive flavour and texture.
