Nikka Discovery The Grain 2023 Release (75cl)

Nikka Discovery The Grain is a Japanese whisky blended from seven whiskies made at four Nikka distilleries: Miyagikyo, Nishinomiya, Moji and Satsumatsukasa. This is the 2023 release, in a 750ml bottle. The blend draws on Coffey and pot still distillates made from mixed grains, 100% malted barley and malted and unmalted barley, some using techniques normally associated with shochu. The distilling dates run from 1988 to 2019, and the whiskies were aged in various types of American oak, aiming for a profile that leans towards bourbon rather than Scotch. The nose is savoury and spicy, with peanut, graham cracker sweetness and black pepper. The finish brings cinnamon and cacao.
