This is Yoichi Non-Peated, one of the first two releases in Nikka's Discovery Series. It departs from the usual idea of Yoichi as a peaty whisky. Its back label describes bright fruitiness and a rich mouthfeel. Some smokiness remains, which comes from coal-fired distillation rather than peat. That smoke is likely to read more like a smouldering barbecue than the familiar flavour of peat smoke.
