Nine Decades is a Nikka blend released in July 2024 for the company's 90th anniversary, in an edition of 4,000 bottles. It is bottled at 48%, without chill-filtration or added colour.
Built mainly on malt whisky, it draws on more than 50 batches from six production sites, including a Yoichi malt from 1945, early Miyagikyo stocks and Ben Nevis malt from Scotland, with grain whisky from Moji and Satsuma Tsukasa.
Apple pie, raisins and gentle smoke lead the nose. The palate offers deep oak, cinnamon, dark chocolate and apricot jam against a fine peat bitterness, and the finish is very long.
