This is the 2022 release of Nikka's Yoichi 10 Year Old single malt, made at the Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. It is bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle, and the release was limited to 9,000 bottles.
The whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks, virgin oak and sherry casks.
The nose opens with toasted oak and spice, followed by apples, apricots and malt, with very discreet peat. Pastry notes appear with time. On the palate it is smooth and rounded, with vanilla and lavender balanced by spicy oak and a little smoke. The finish is long and dry, with fruit, oak and floral notes in balance.
