Nikka Yoichi 10 Year Old is a single malt from the Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido, Japan, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who learned his craft in Scotland.
The whisky matures in a combination of bourbon, sherry and new oak casks. It has a smoky character with a hint of sea air.
The nose is full and soft, salty and lightly smoky, with citrus, spice and a touch of liquorice. The palate is balanced and robust, with smoke, fruit and nuts and sweet accents. The finish is long and silky, with malt, smoke and fresh notes.
