Yoichi Aromatic Yeast is a single malt from Nikka's Discovery series, released in 2022 as a limited edition. The name refers to an experiment with aromatic yeast strains, carried out to create a distinctive whisky. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle.
Tasting notes describe a refined nose that is spicy, salty and peaty, with fruity and floral aromas and even tropical and medicinal hints. The palate follows the nose, full and firm, with spice, salt, smoke and malt alongside fruit and flowers. The finish is very long, with white grapes, plums and peat.
