Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is a Japanese single malt from Nikka's Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle without an age statement. The distillery was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru and is Nikka's first. It uses direct coal-fired distillation, and its cool coastal setting is part of the character of the malt. The nose combines gentle oak with rich fruit. The palate is more forceful, led by pronounced peat with subtle roasted notes. The finish carries sweet oak and refined smoke that linger gently.
