Oban Distillers Edition is a West Highland single malt that has been double matured, with a second period in Montilla Fino sherry casks. The finishing adds a drier, nuttier note to the distillery's sweet fruit, sea salt and light smokiness. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The nose has maritime air, dried fruit, orange peel and sea salt, with a delicate nuttiness, heather and a wisp of peat smoke. The palate is full-bodied, with sweet malt, ripe orchard fruit, dry nuttiness, gentle spice, brininess and a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is long and warming, with sweetness set against a dry edge, then oak, sea spray and gentle smoke.
