Octomore 13.1, called The Impossible Equation, is a five-year-old peated Islay single malt at 59.2% ABV. The barley was harvested in 2015 on a farm on the Scottish mainland and peated to 137.3 ppm. It matured for five years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks of American oak. In 2021 head distiller Adam Hannett moved it into fresh first-fill ex-bourbon casks, which adds notes of dark toffee and coconut. It is a limited edition. The nose is nutty and smoky, with malty sweetness, ripe fruit, apricots in syrup and ripe pear. The palate is sweet and soft, with heavily peated malt and smoked muesli with fruit and honey. Earthy, mossy notes and herbal smoke close the finish.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
