Octomore 14.1 is a five-year-old heavily peated Islay single malt, made at the Bruichladdich distillery. It is matured entirely on Islay in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, from Concerto barley grown on the Scottish mainland and malted to 128.9 ppm phenols. This 2023 release is bottled at 59.6%, without colouring or chill-filtration, in a 70cl bottle supplied in a metal tin.
The nose offers smoky vanilla, sweet caramel and toffee, with sooty, earthy smoke, coconut, almond and a touch of lemon meringue. The palate brings bright citrus, smoke and minerality, then charred oak, toffee, creamy vanilla, pear, green apple and roasted coffee. The finish carries butterscotch, vanilla, earthy peat smoke and a little sea spray, with burnt heather.
