Octomore 15.1, The Impossible Equation, is a 5 year old Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 59.1% ABV. It is made from 100% Scottish Concerto barley, harvested in 2017 and distilled in 2018 at 108.2 ppm.
The whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks and recharred ex-bourbon casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose is intense and layered, with caramel, vanilla sauce and sweet, smoky malted barley. On the palate come mango, banana and apricot jam alongside vanilla sauce, toffee and strong smoke. The finish is earthy peat smoke with vanilla, sweet smoky wood and a mineral, maritime edge.
