Octomore 15.2 is a five-year-old heavily peated Islay single malt from the Bruichladdich distillery. Distilled in 2018 from Scottish barley malted to 108.2 ppm phenols, it matured first in second-fill wine and bourbon casks, then was finished in first-fill French oak Cognac casks, all on Islay. The 2024 release is bottled at 57.9%, without colouring or chill-filtration, in a 70cl bottle.
The nose shows lemon, lime peel and lemon meringue tart with toasted oak and earthy smoke. The palate is dense and smooth, with vanilla cream, caramel and toffee, then black pepper, charred oak, cinnamon and nutmeg. At full strength mango, apricot and grilled pineapple appear. The finish is long, salty and maritime, with earthy peat smoke, citrus peel and sea salt.
