Octomore 16.1 is a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled in 2025 at 59.3% in a 70cl bottle. It serves as the reference point for Series 16 and is non-chill-filtered, with no added colour.
It was distilled from 100% Scottish Concerto barley grown on the mainland, with a phenol level of 101.4 PPM. All of the maturation took place on Islay, in first-fill bourbon casks.
The nose brings sea spray and orchard fruit wrapped in fine peat smoke, with heather, vanilla pod, toasted almonds and a touch of iodine. The palate moves from soft peat to salted caramel, melon and apricot, with cinnamon and star anise. The finish is long, ending on black pepper, toffee and sea salt.
