Octomore 16.1 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, with a phenol level of 108.2 ppm, bottled at 59.3%. It is the sixteenth edition in the Octomore series.
The whisky matured for five years in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled without chill-filtering or added colouring.
The nose has intense peat and charcoal smoke, lemon peel, vanilla, sea salt and a hint of roasted barley. The palate brings sweet vanilla, honey, lemon and green apple, followed by pepper and oak. The finish is long and smoky, with lingering peat, sweet oak and a little fruit.
