Octomore 16.2 (58.1%)

Octomore 16.2 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, with a phenol level of 108.2 ppm, bottled at 58.1%. It is the second variant of the sixteenth Octomore edition. The whisky matured for eight years in a mix of ex-bourbon and European oak ex-sherry casks, the sherry adding depth and fruit to the smoke. It is bottled without chill-filtering or added colouring. The nose has intense peat and charcoal smoke, dark fruit, raisins, vanilla, sea salt and a hint of chocolate. The palate brings dried fruit, plums, honey and oak spice, then pepper and nutmeg. The finish is very long and smoky, with sherry sweetness and dark chocolate.
