A five-year-old heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich's Octomore range, with a phenol level of 101.4 ppm. It is bottled at a cask strength of 58.1%, without chill-filtration or added colour.
It was matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry and selected wine casks, which add dark fruit, oak spice, sweet vanilla and a red wine influence to the smoke.
The nose offers soft dried fruit and smoke, with tropical fruit, flowers and toasted oak. The palate is rich and sweet, with caramelised sugar, roasted nuts and candied zest. The finish is long, sweet and smoky, with maritime freshness and lingering wood spice.
