Octomore 17.1 Scottish Barley is a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich and the opening release of Octomore Series 17. It is made from 100% Concerto barley grown on the Scottish mainland, peated to 81 PPM, and matured throughout in first-fill bourbon casks. Bottled in 2026 at 59.7%, it is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose combines vanilla milkshake, Scottish tablet and warm custard tart with pear drops and malt syrup, and behind them dry, earthy peat smoke, charred wood and ash. The palate is sweet and creamy, with vanilla, warm pastry and pear drops, then earthy smoke, embers and charred oak. The finish is long and smoky, with sea salt balancing the sweetness.
