Octomore 17.3 is a five-year-old, heavily peated Islay single malt at 60.9%, in a 70cl bottle with a metal tin. The Concerto barley came from Irene's Field on Octomore Farm, harvested in 2019 and distilled in 2020; the malt measures 132.1 ppm.
It matured entirely on Islay, in first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill European oak casks that held Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, ice wine and Syrah, used throughout rather than as a finish. It is non-chill-filtered, with no added colour.
The nose offers salty peat smoke with tar and medicinal notes, then warm malt and lemon peel. The palate is thick and peppery, with salted caramel and smoked apple before earthy peat. The finish is long, dry and warming.
