Octomore 17.3 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich's Octomore range. It is distilled from 100% Concerto barley grown on Octomore Farm in Irene's Field, and malted to 132.1 PPM.
The whisky spent five years in a mix of first-fill bourbon, second-fill Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswein and Syrah casks. It was brought to 60.9% ABV with Octomore's own spring water, non-chill filtered and with no added colour.
The nose shows salted caramel, smoked apple, toasted coconut, praline and vanilla cream. The palate is sweeter, with first-fill oak, orchard fruit and honey before big, rolling smoke. The finish is long, with smoke and sweetness together.
