Okami 12 Year Old Pure Malt is a Japanese blended malt from San Foods in Yamanashi Prefecture, made with spring water from Mount Fuji. It matured for twelve years, first in American white oak casks and then for a twelve-month finish in Mizunara, Japanese water oak.
It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose is ripe peach, nectarine and citrus with vanilla, sweet malt and toasted oak, plus delicate honeysuckle and jasmine. The palate is velvety, with peach, pear, toasted pecans, dark chocolate, ginger and leather. The finish is long and dry.
