Old Carter OC-5 is a 19-year-old single barrel American whiskey from Old Carter Whiskey Co. in Kentucky, bottled at barrel strength of 70.6% ABV (141.2 proof) in a 75cl bottle. Just 76 bottles were produced.
Old Carter was founded by Mark and Sherri Carter, the co-creators of Kentucky Owl, and releases its whiskeys when the barrels are ready. This one is non-chill filtered and hand-bottled, with Sherri's hand-labelling on every bottle.
The nose is deep oak, dark caramel, leather and tobacco, with dried cherries and vanilla. The palate is dense, with dark chocolate, toffee and charred barrel, and a very long, dry, oak-led finish.
