Old Carter 13 Year Old Single Barrel #55 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from a single cask, bottled at 58.85% ABV (117.7 proof) in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is bottle 5 of 145 from the barrel. Old Carter Whiskey Co. is the project of Mark and Sherri Carter, who started it after selling Kentucky Owl in 2017. They select mature Kentucky whiskey rather than distilling it, and releases are barrel strength, non-chill filtered and hand-labelled. Barrel #54 came out at the same strength. The nose brings deep caramel, vanilla bean and seasoned oak with dark cherry, brown sugar and baking spice. On the palate it is rich and full-bodied, with toasted vanilla, dark fruit, cinnamon, leather and barrel spice. The finish is long and warming, with sweet oak, vanilla and dark fruit.
