Old Carter Single Barrel #97 is a 13-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled uncut and non-chill filtered in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is 59.9% ABV in a 750ml bottle, and the barrel gave 132 bottles.
Old Carter Whiskey Co. is the project of Mark and Sherri Carter, who sold Kentucky Owl in 2017 and started again under their own name. They do not run a distillery. They select mature Kentucky whiskey and release it at barrel strength, and Sherri writes the barrel number, bottle number, ABV and proof on each label by hand.
The nose offers caramel, seasoned oak, vanilla bean and dark brown sugar. The palate is full-bodied, with toffee, dark cherry, cinnamon, leather and mature oak, and the finish is long and warming.
