Old Carter Bourbon Whiskey #81 13 Year Single Barrel (75cl, 60.4%)

A thirteen-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Old Carter Whiskey Co., drawn from a single barrel, number 81, and bottled at 120.7 proof (60.35% ABV) in a 750ml bottle. It is uncut and non-chill filtered, and was bottled in Frankfort, Kentucky. Old Carter is the project of Mark and Sherri Carter, who select mature Kentucky whiskey rather than run a distillery. This barrel gave 167 bottles, and this is number 79. Sherri hand-labels each bottle, so the barrel number, bottle number and strength are written by hand on the front. The nose has dark caramel, vanilla bean, toasted oak, brown sugar and mature dark fruit. The palate is full-bodied, with caramelised sugar, oak spice, dried fruit and baking spices. The finish is long and warming.
