Old Ezra 7 Year Old Straight Rye is a Kentucky rye whiskey made by Lux Row Distillers under the Ezra Brooks name. It is bottled at barrel strength, 57% ABV or 114 proof, in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration.
The rye comes from a high-rye mash bill and spent seven years in new charred American oak barrels.
The nose offers caramel, oak and baking spice, with vanilla bean, cracked pepper, toasted rye grain, dark chocolate and orange peel. On the palate, toffee and brown sugar give way to rye spice, clove and black pepper in a rich, oily texture. The finish is long and dry, with oak tannins, cinnamon and charred caramel.
