Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2003 is a 12-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, released on 2 September 2003. That date is the birthday of George Garvin Brown, who founded Old Forester in 1870. It is a small batch of hand-selected 12-year-old barrels, chosen by the master distiller. Each year's Birthday Bourbon has its own barrel composition and proof. It was made by Old Forester Distilling Co. in Louisville, Kentucky. The colour is a rich amber. Tasting notes describe caramel, vanilla, oak and warm spice on the nose. The palate is full-bodied, with toffee, dried fruit and baking spice, and the finish is long and warming, with oak and caramel.
