Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2017 is a 12-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, released on 2 September 2017 in a 750ml bottle. It is a small-batch selection by master distiller Chris Morris, made to honour the birthday of Old Forester's founder, George Garvin Brown.
Each year's Birthday Bourbon is drawn from hand-chosen barrels, so the proof and barrel make-up change from one edition to the next.
The notes describe a nose of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, dark cherry and warm cinnamon. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with toffee, dried fruit and baking spice, and the finish is long and warm, ending dry.
