Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon is made in Louisville, Kentucky, from a mash bill of corn, rye and malted barley. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour.
The brand dates back to 1870 and was the first bourbon sold consistently in sealed glass bottles. A high proportion of rye gives it a spicy character, and it matures in new charred American white oak.
The nose offers fresh orange, rye bread and fine spice, with light wood notes. The palate is full, with maple syrup, melted butter and spicy rye, then touches of pine resin and oak. The finish is long, with orange peel, oak and a restrained sweetness.
